Our outstanding environmental sustainability management wins awards

Barranquilla, Colombia – Our company has been acknowledged at the Colombian Petroleum Association’s Hechos de Sostenibilidad sustainability conference in Barranquilla. The event highlighted how the oil, gas and energy industry contributes to sustainable development in Colombia and its regions.

We won first place among 60 projects in the Climate Change and Decarbonization Management and Implementation of Circularity Models categories, and were finalists in the Partnerships for Sustainable Development category.

Strong progress in our Emissions Reduction Plan, through clean energy, energy efficiency and methane management initiatives, earned our first place in the Climate Change and Decarbonization Management category.

Interconnecting the Llanos 34 Block to the national power grid, building a 9.9 MW photovoltaic solar plant and implementing energy efficiency processes helped us reduce our emissions intensity by 18% to 10.6 kg CO2e/boe in 2023.

First place in the Implementation of Circularity Models category was due to the results of our Circular Economy Strategic Plan, which promotes the efficient management of resource consumption, the maintenance of the value of products and materials, and the minimization of waste generation in operations.

Highlights of the Strategic Plan in 2023 included composting more than 125.9 metric tons of organic waste to use in restoration initiatives, treating 8,254 m3 of wastewater for reuse in operational processes, and using 183,207 thousand cubic feet of associated gas for power generation.

We celebrate these awards for reflecting our firm commitment to environmental sustainability throughout our operations, and we thank the Colombian Petroleum Association for highlighting the significant contributions of the oil and gas industry in supporting national prosperity through activities in the regions.
