As dialogue, shared work, and transparency are fundamental to GeoPark in building relationships of trust with neighboring communities and authorities, our ‘Good News, Good Neighbors’ newsletter keeps neighbors, authorities and others up to date on the progress of our social and environmental management in Putumayo.

This edition covers January-April 2025 and includes data on our dialogue with neighboring communities, the fulfillment of our commitments, and the progress of territorial development projects that we jointly develop.

Significant advances in the period include:

Dialogue is Progress:

  • 11 meetings with communities and 17 Friendship Coffees
  • +260 visits to the Cuéntame office in Puerto Asis
  • We launched José, the Good Neighbor, a new service channel for our contractors and suppliers

Transparency in Action

  • We launched the Transparency Portal that provides environmental information for our oil and gas exploration and production projects in Colombia

Promoting local development:

  • +170 workers are linked to our operations
  • 85% of workers are local
  • 29 local companies provide goods and services

Social and environmental investment:

  • Some 3,000 study kits for children in areas neighboring our operation
  • Over 95% progress in the construction project of the Puerto Bello school in the village of Peneya
  • 100% completion of infrastructure improvements at the Ancura, Narino, Sinai Achapos, Belen and Chufiya schools, which are part of the Santa Isabel and Nueva Granada school groups
  • Over 130 Puerto Asis entrepreneurs took part in the second phase of the Entrepreneurship and Growth program that we run in partnership with the Putumayo Chamber of Commerce
  • 8 photovoltaic solar systems, 8 organic gardens and 3 biodigesters provided to the Montebello, Monteverde, Peneya, Narino, Sinai II Baldio, Belen, Chufiya and Buen Samaritan schools
  • 3 energy communities are now operating in 8 locations of 3 school groups, benefiting more than 130 people
  • Our monitoring of flora and fauna in Meta, Casanare and Putumayo resulted in over 59,200 records being contributed to the Colombian Biodiversity Information System (SiB Colombia) between January and March 2025
